The Birth and Evolution of HalfPriceAwards.com.

During our many years of owning and operating a brick-and-mortar retail awards business, there were two statements we heard the most from customers:  #1 - "I want something nice but I don't want to pay a lot".  And #2 - "I can get it cheaper on the internet".

Now, those two statements are very frustrating to hear when you have all the overhead expense of maintaining a physical retail establishment.  There's only so much you can do to lower those expenses, give a low price to customers and still make enough profit to pay the rent, let alone make a living.

So, what do we do?  How do we give the customers what they are asking for - quality products at low prices - and still make enough profit to stay in business?  That's when the idea of HalfPriceAwards.com was born.  Customers want a low price?  Our name says it all - almost every product we offer is literally priced at 50% of MSRP (Manufacterer's Suggest Retail Price).  On top of that, we occasionally offer items at an even higher discount.

Next, how do we still offer quality products at such low prices and still make enough profit to stay in business?  To start with, we eliminate as much overhead expense as possible.  We sold our brick-and-mortar business and instantly eliminated all our rent expense and drastically reduced many other expenses by being an online only business.  As far as quality products, we still offer the same products from the same suppliers as we did before.  Our years of experience and volume buying power allow us to get the best deals on our cost, so we are able to pass along low prices to our customers.

Finally, we focus on only selling stock items.  In other words, the normal awards products commonly used the most.  Whether it's medals for a wrestling tournament, or plaques for a corporate recognition banquet, or a more elegant crystal award for a special occasion.  We purposely do not offer custom-made items because that's what takes a lot of extra time and requires a much higher price tag.  We also created simple, easy-order templates to make the whole process faster and more efficient for both the customer and our production department.
